that's not bad output that's good output of an umlaut encoded in utf-8.
Note that _every_ XML processor can understand utf-8, whereas if you
output in latin-1 (by adding <xsl:output encoding="iso-8859-1"/>)
then some XML processors may not understand that encoding.
