Yes, I'm working on this right now.  It will have to be a new file
malloc.c since I started 'from scratch' from Doug Lea's 2.7.0 version.
There are _far_ too many changes to break it up into diffs.
Definitely 2.3 stuff, and it will take some time to actually check its
stability (I'm optimistic, though).
