Geoff,
I have completed builds with the revised ppc32 memset patch
that Steven Munroe just posted...
http://sources.redhat.com/ml/libc-alpha/2002-08/msg00215.html
...on entropy.crashing.org applied to glibc 2.2.90 using gcc 3.2.1-pre
under Linux 2.4.19. The make check of glibc with this patch is
fine with no additional failures other than the known math suite
failures in the stock version.
I also have built a glibc 2.2.5 (current glibc-2-2-branch cvs)
with this memset patch using gcc 2.95.4 under Linux 2.4.20pre4.
This build was done on a debian ppc sid machine. Again, I
see no failures in the testsuite introduced by this patch.
So the ppc32 section of the patch looks fine to go into trunk
and glibc-2-2-branch unless there is some test we need to try
outside of the standard glibc testsuite.
Jack
ps Of course the "rm -fr sysdeps/powerpc/memset.S' lines in
specfile and debian rules files were disabled. Both builds
were done under binutils 2.13.90.0.4.
