and I have not had the chance to look into it.  It is probably related.
To test dwarf_getscopes, please run tests/addrscopes from your elfutils
build, i.e.:
./tests/addrscopes -e executable-file 0x123 0x456

if 0x123 and 0x456 are the PC values of interest.

Put the exact command line you used in the bug report and attach your actual executable file (not just source).
