crosstool-ng dependency

Hello,

I just discovered crosstool-ng.
When I run 'configure', it stops with the following messages:

[...]
Checking for 'makeinfo'... /usr/bin/makeinfo
Checking for 'automake'... /usr/bin/automake: wrong version string:
expecting regexp '\(GNU automake\) [[:digit:]]+\.[[:digit:]]{2,}'
Checking for 'automake'... /usr/bin/automake: wrong version string:
expecting regexp '\(GNU automake\) [2-9][[:digit:]]*\.'
Bailing out...

My build computer is a windows xp computer, under cygwin.

I just installed an automake.  Calling 'automake --version' shows

automake (GNU automake) 1.9.6

Which version of automake should I use ?  Where can I find it ?
