But in linux-2.6 version.h is not there in the corresponding directory. What are the changes i need to do ??

Note:I could do for linux-2.4.x without any problem.

Try 'make prepare' instead when building with the 2.6 kernel.

The next release of crosstool (is that how you're building the cross gcc?)
will handle this better.
