But, on i586-linux-gnulibc1 building current  egcs snapshot (from CVS)
fails (stage1/cc1 is calling abort  while compiling getopt.c)!   Using
H.J. Lu's binutils-2.8.1.0.15 instead doesn't show such problems!

Unfortunately, I have no idea what's going on.
