Passing flags to SUBDIRS

Subject: Passing flags to SUBDIRS

If I'd like all of the files in a particular subdirectory to be compiled
with -Isome/path, for instance, how do I arrange for this?  AM_CPPFLAGS
does not seem to be automatically propagated.
