AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL

Subject: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL

Subj: what am i doing wrong ?
executing automake i getting alot of messages:
/usr/share/automake/am/lang-compile.am: AMDEP does not appear in 
AM_CONDITIONAL
and 
/usr/share/automake/am/depend2.am: AMDEP does not appear in AM_CONDITIONAL
